Gillberga history 

 

 

 

Gillberga beverages has a legacy from all the back to before 

6'th century when the first production of liquid beverages

where made by the early settlers in the kingdom of Wermland.

 

 

Gillberga Water

 

It was believed from far back in time that the water from some of the

Gillberga wells could cure almost all kinds of infirmities and illnesses.

This view became popular in the late 16'th century and would consist

in more than 350 years. The Water from some of the Gillberga wells 

are carbonic hard water with high iron content that are bubbling a bit

like a modern carbonic mineral water.

 

 

Gillberga Beer

 

The history of Gillberga different types of beers begins before the 6'th

century as the people and early settlers of Wermland has always been

producing different types of beers or mead to be used to drink together

with their meals. Some types of beer or mead were also made for

speciall occasions or religious ceremony.

 

 

 

 

 

Gillberga Wine

 

Wine has been produced in Wermland all

the way back to the beginning when the

first settlers came to Wermland. The wines

produced has mostly been different types

of wines made from local berries as blue-

berries, lingonberry, cloudberry, rasp-

berries or juniper. Wine made from birch

sap are one of many specialities from the

region of Wermland.

 

 

Gillberga Whiskey

 

The history of Gillberga whiskey begin in the

4'th century when the destillation practice

came to Scandinavia from the frequent

contacts that the people had to the east.

The spirits that was made in the early years

were a strong and fiery liquid used both for

medicinal purposes as for drinking.

 

In the 5'th and 6'th century the destillation practise spread to new territories and also to

the kingdom of Wermland where the first

whiskey were produced and used in both

religious meetings and by the kings of

Wermland as the best of drinks you could

offer your guests.
